Confirmation Email

The settings for your Confirmation Emails consist of:

  1. a Text Block on the left, which displays the code that creates your email
  2. a Template Menu to the right of the Text Block, which also has a Custom option so you can create your own.
  3. a Preview option which sends a copy of your selected email template to the email address entered in your Personal Settings.

To use, or see the code creating the email of your choosing:

  1. Highlight your selection in the Template menu and save the page.
  2. When the page reloads the Text Block will be populated with the text and Replacement Codes which are used to pull specific data into the body of your email. Note: The Custom option will load a blank text block until you've entered and saved your own work.
  3. Click Preview to have a copy of the email sent to you.
  • If building your own Custom Email please note that you can only use text and the supplied Replacement Codes.
  • To ensure that as many of your buyers receive their confirmations as possible, HTML is not used in your Confirmation Emails.
  • The From: address on your Confirmation Emails will show an Art of Books address (no-reply@theartofbooks.com). Some ISP's will not allow an email to go through if the From: Address does not match the sending server. However, you can mask the From: Address by entering your own Business Name to the Pretty Email Name field just below the Confirmation Email Text Block.
  • Enter a Subject of your choosing for your Confirmation email. If left blank the Subject of your email will say Shipping Confirmation From <Your Business Name>.
  • Select to receive a copy of all Confirmation Emails.
  • Whether you've selected one of the templates, or if you've built your own custom email, the selected email template will be the one used by the system when you have marked orders as shipped and selected to have an email sent.

Packing Slips

The settings for your Packing Slips consist of:

  1. a Text Block on the left, which displays the code that creates your packing slip.
  2. a Template Menu to the right of the Text Block, which also has a Custom option so you can create your own. Note: The Custom option will load a blank text block until you've entered and saved your own work.
  3. a Preview option which opens a new page displaying the selected packing slip..

To use, or to see the code creating the packing slip:

  1. Highlight your selection in the Template menu and save the page.
  2. When the page reloads the Text Block will be populated with the text and Replacement Codes which are used to pull specific data into the body of your packing slip.
  3. Click Preview to display the packing slip.
  • The packing slip templates use HTML, text and Replacement Codes.
  • Want to use a Barcode in your Packing Slip? It's easy. Setting up a Barcode
  • If you do decide to make changes to the template or a packing slip you have customized, it is prudent to make a copy of what you are currently using and storing it on your local machine. This, in case you do not like the results; you can revert to what you used previously more easily.
  • A suggestion .. turn off the headers and footers in your printer settings as they will cause The Art of Books to show on your packing slip and you want your customers to see your name, not AOB's.

Template Replacement Codes:

  • Below the Confirmations Emails and Packing Slips settings you will find a table containing our Template Replacement Codes.
    • They are used to pull specific information from your Personal Settings and Orders to populate that data to your Custom emails and packing slips.
    • Enter these to the code that creates your Confirmations Emails and Packing Slips where you wish the information to be displayed.
    • If you want to information specific to the item/s ordered you must use Item Section tags (%ITEMSECTIONBEGIN%' and '%ITEMSECTIONEND%) in each of the templates, before and after, where you wish to pull in the item specific data.
    • Note the table is two different colors. The Replacement Codes in the green section are item specific tags.
